The purpose of the Emerging Church Committee:
Our dream as an Emerging Church Committee, charged by the Tri-Presbytery New Church Development Commission to address the future of emerging church development, is to create a process for practicing the biblical hope of new birth. Recognizing that innovation was an essential practice of the Reformers, we seek to become a catalyst for creating new, faithful, timely, and authentically Presbyterian practices exhibiting the reign of God as Christian community in the 21st century. New life does not always mean “alternative” as in a departure from the old, but also includes the growth and expansion of earlier life. Our hope is to create a faithful environment for emerging ministries within our three presbyteries.
